Events Import
The creation and primary management of events should be done in Eventbrite. Following event creation in Eventbrite, events then can be imported into Wordpress by navigating to Events → Import. You will then select “Eventbrite” as the import source and adjust any import settings as needed.
After the import has fetched event data, you can select which events to import, or import all events. If the imported events does not exist, a new event will be created in Wordpress in Events → Events. If the imported event already exists in Wordpress, the existing content of the Wordpress event will be overwritten with the content from the import data. For more details an help with Eventbrite imports, please reference The Events Calendar documentation.
When important event information is updated in Eventbrite, remember you must do another import in Wordpress for those changes to be reflected on the website.
Post-Import Checklist
While the Eventbrite import works well, some quality assurance and optimization tasks are likely going to be needed following an import:
- Make sure only one event in Wordpress was created for each imported Eventbrite event—duplicates are possible
- If desired, edit each imported event and set the
Venueand check theShow MapandShow Map Linkcheckboxes. The event venue information may not be set after an import and this step is required in order for the venue information and map to display on the individual event page - If desired, edit each imported event and fill in the
Excerptfield with a short event description. By default, the event description in the calendar is comprised from the main content field, but the text is clipped after a certain length. Entering a short excerpt will prevent this and optimize event experience for your visitors - Look through the events on the live website and ensure everything is displaying as desired.
